Kara was launched in August 2013 in New York by Sarah Law. Kara derives from the Japanese word ‘karaoke,’ which means ‘empty orchestra.’ Emptiness is the basis of possibility that creates space for personal interpretation and self-expression!
Kara is famous for making simple, easy to use products so you can wear them any way you like. We also love Kara for creating a visual series called #KaraYouBeYou wherein artists and individuals are asked to document Kara their way. This collective body of work represents Kara’s exploration of identity. The brand is not interested in creating one lifestyle, or color palette or one type of person to represent their brand. The focus is on exploring the breadth of people, styles, imagery and creativity. The breadth to represent Kara. Amongst others, artists participated in project are John Yuyi, Masha Reva, Aleia Murawski, Fish Zhang, and many more.
What is new this season in Kara collection? We absolutely adore Shirt and Shirt Waist bags! What a cool way to reinvent the classic leather shirt!
